Chamonix Haute Savoie is situated at the base of the wonderful Monte Bianco in France and is generally regarded as the Alpine climbing and extreme ski holiday epi centre of Europe. The resort has been known for a long time as a real resort for extreme activities during both summer and winter seasons. Chamonix hosted the first Winter Olympics in the early 1920s – furthermore it’s also a region of exceptional vistas offering a lot to the climber and holiday maker.

Differing from a lot of up to date ski areas Chamonix town is not a modern snowboarding area and has been mostly saved from the brutalist architecture which litters so much of the European Alps. The resort is large enough to guarantee there’s a lot for the non skier to do and see. Whatever the pace of your vacation theres something to suit the whole group. There’s a big sports center, beauty salons, museum and local market; and a plethora of boutiques, cafes and clubs, it privides a combination of mountaineering, town charm and going out, that only a handful ski resorts can equal.
